Hello This is mikey's web page starter guide. In this page I hope to show you how easy it is to get a web site. So How do you start this off? First you need an ISP (Internet service provider) I use www.freeola.com There are many service providers out there, but I prefer freeola as they have free technical advice and are OK to use. 1. Go to www.freeola.com 2. Get a user account by click on register now 3. Get a log on account and select an email account. 4. Once you have the account, you should have a user log on number for example sr1234567 and set a password to the account 5. This should be emailed to if you have an hotmail account or another free email service. 6. You then need to setup up outlook or outlook express for your email account. freeola have a good control panel which will give you a good setup guide to help you. 7.You will need then to set up a dial up to freeola.com 8. Again follow the control panel instructions or use this. Go to the control panel go to dial up or make new connection 9.fill in the account logon name and telephone number 10. Name the dial up and create a shortcut to the desk time call it freeola dialup.

So You are now ready to write a web site. To do this you need some web site design software. I use Hotmetal pro editor. Most people use frontpage 2000. I only use hotmetal as I have done my site in that format. Your web site name with freeola will be you email account, mine is for example mikey@wizkids.co.uk and as you all know my site is www.mikey.wizkids.co.uk so yours will be similar to this. Your web site will need to be in a dirrectory called htdocs i have created this on my c drive to make file transfer easier. You must put all your files in this directory. I have created another directory call thumbnails. This is the directory where I keep all my picture files. Again this is in a directory on my c drive under web page\htdocs. So you have the web space (20MB's) and the directors set up on your c drive. You now need to decide what web design software you are going to use. I use HoTMetaL pro because it is free and easy to use. The Hardest thing now is to work out what you want your site on. It may pay to sit down and think about this like a project as this is a very hard choice.Most people choose to write about themselves. Remember never to give out your address or telephone numbers. Make sure also car number plates in pictures are blacked out.
